The centre of Evesham, inside the loop of the river, is Georgian and Victorian with older buildings mixed in, much of it in the conservation area, and the roofs are clay tile and slate on original timbers with tall chimney stacks. The work there is careful: valleys and flashings in lead, chimneys repointed and capped, tiles and slates re-laid with new fixings or matched where too many are gone, and an honest look at the timbers while the covering is off. A change of material is checked with Wychavon District Council before it is quoted, and on a listed building even like-for-like work needs consent.

The postwar and modern estates around the town, Fairfield, the housing off the Cheltenham and Worcester roads and the newer developments, have concrete tile roofs on trussed rafters that are reaching the end of their life together. A re-cover with a breathable membrane, new battens and a dry ridge is the right job when the tiles and felt are both done, and fascias, soffits and guttering are the common smaller one. Evesham is about eighteen miles from Redditch by way of Alcester, so we take on full re-roofs and larger repairs here as standard and say so if a small job is not worth the run.
